Accessibility

The UIC Engineering Makerspace wants everyone to be able to submit projects, follow their progress, and take part in student org activity through this site. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA) and the University follow.

Report a barrier or ask for help

If anything on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, email makerspace@uic.edu. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and (if you'd like) the browser or assistive technology you use. We'll get back to you, and while we fix it we'll help you get the task done another way, for example by taking your submission by email.

Students who need academic accommodations can also contact UIC Disability Resource Center. UIC's digital accessibility resources are at UIC Digital Accessibility.

What we know about

• File previews are visual. The 3D model, drawing, and PDF previews on a project page are pictures. The text in a PDF preview can't be read by a screen reader, and rotating a 3D model needs a mouse or touch. Each preview sits next to the file's name, which downloads the original file to open in an application you're comfortable with. Model and drawing previews also list the part's dimensions as text.
• Color schemes. Every page works in light and dark mode, and there's a High contrast scheme under your name → Settings.
